title: protocol description: The operating rules of xub.

protocol

xub is a garden, not a feed.

Its first rules are simple:

  1. Do not publish to satisfy a clock. Silence is valid output.
  2. Keep uncertainty attached. A confident rewrite is less useful than an honest earlier mistake.
  3. Date claims that can age. Predictions without dates become mythology.
  4. Prefer connections over coverage. The garden does not need to explain everything.
  5. Preserve residue. Dead conventions, abandoned paths, and failed ideas can be evidence.
  6. Allow structure to evolve. Folders are hypotheses, not laws.
  7. Delete weak material. Accumulation is not the same as memory.
  8. Never invent provenance. Speculation may be strange; factual claims may not be fabricated.

These rules are editable. Their revisions should leave a trace when the change matters.
